Here is a quick list of what you can buy right now at the store to stop the pain and itching instantly. These are cheap, effective, all natural and easy methods that work! And the best part is, you only have to buy ONE of the things listed, so no matter where you are you can pick up one of these items and get relief in a few minutes!
Colloidal Silver - liquid solution of 10ppm (parts per million) found at natural health/food stores such as Wild Oates, usually found in the vitamin/supplement section of the store - most effective brand is Sovereign Silver (extremely small particle size means it is more effective than most of the brands out there)*
Cold Plain Yogurt - large container, make sure it has no added sugar, flavor or anything like that - sugar feeds the yeast that you are trying to kill, so make sure it is as plain as it can get (this is for eating and applying to affected areas)
Probiotics or Acidophilus (good bacteria) - if you are lactose intolerant or don't like yogurt, then you can pick this up instead (also for ingesting and applying to the area directly)
**Also good to get if you have a vaginal yeast infection: Apple Cider Vinegar - helps to regulate vaginal pH to normal, which in turn helps to kill off the candida yeast because it can't thrive in that environment (this is only for external application to affected areas - make sure you dilute with water before using - get this as well as one of the other remedies on this list)
* Colloidal Silver is extremely effective in killing off viruses, bacteria, yeast, etc that should not be in your body. In normal doses, listed on the bottle, it is extremely safe and effective to use. I have given it to my infant/now toddler son, and it was the only thing that cleared up his sinus infection - antibiotics wouldn't even clear it up. And used in the proper doses there are no side effects and no negative interactions. This information came from my naturopathic practitioner. Just figured I'd mention it since the "blue man" who makes his own colloidal silver may have given this remedy a bad name. His concoction is clearly not abiding by the safe ingestion guidelines and has turned him silvery blue! Just be mindful of the doses listed on the bottle and you will be perfectly fine! :)
Ok, here is what to do with these items:
1. Colloidal Silver - this is the best by far for immediate relief since it kills the yeast on contact
a. Dilute the colloidal silver with cold water, using a mixture of 1/2 water and 1/2 colloidal silver. You will need to dab this on the affected areas, and if you have a vaginal yeast infection you will need to get this solution up into your vagina. You can choose how you do this, but you may want to use a douche or a medicine syringe, but if you are in dire need you can also use a baster (yes, a turkey baster). You won't want to use the dropper that comes with it since you will also need to ingest it. Take the recommended dosage each day listed on the bottle, and that will help your immune system fight off the yeast from the inside out. That is the second reason it is my favorite pick of all these instant relief remedies. The third reason is that there isn't a messy concoction coming out of you like in some of these others. The fourth is that there isn't any weird odor from it, it is completely odorless. But don't fret if you can't get it or find it right away, see below.
2. If you can only find the plain yogurt, that is ok. It will help right away to soothe the burning and itching. There are several application methods, so here are the most effective ones:
a. Frozen - freeze the yogurt into small ice cubes and apply to the area in question (insert into vagina or wherever) - make sure you wear something that will catch the yogurt as it melts and comes out (this is a good sign, this means it is coating the affected areas and will kill the yeast) - I prefer this method the best since the cold helps to really soothe the area, but you might want to start with method b and freeze some overnight
b. Tampon/medical syringe/baster - basically, use anything that you can fill with yogurt and squirt inside wherever you need it - again, make sure you wear something to catch the yogurt when it comes out
You probably want to do this at night since that is the easiest way to deal with the messiness of it, but if you can't wait till nighttime that's ok. Just make sure to wear something to catch the mess and wear an outfit that isn't tight fitting.
You will also want to make sure you eat yogurt every day during the infection and for 1-2 weeks afterward. It's also a good idea to make this a part of your daily intake if you tend to have yeast infections on a regular basis.
3. Probiotics/Acidophillus Bacteria (good bacteria) - You can find these just about anywhere, but you should make sure you have a reliable brand with a high count of the healthy bacteria. Nature's Way you can usually find in health food stores, online you can find a fantastic brand of probiotics called 15-35 by NSI. I take the NSI probiotics and it has actually reversed my lactose intolerance, something I was told would never happen. You will need to take 2 capsules and open them up and get the little granules to where your yeast infection is. This may require putting it in KY jelly and squirting it up inside your vagina. You can also use a little water to make a paste if you don't have the jelly, or if you just need to cover an area that is easy to reach. Do this each day as long as you feel the itching. You will also want to take these orally by following the guidelines on the bottle. You can also double the dosage with no harmful side effects to help your body fight the yeast from the inside out faster.
About the Apple Cider Vinegar, you will want to try to pick this up as well since it will return your vaginal pH back to normal if that is where you have your yeast infection. You will want to use whatever remedy you chose above and wait long enough for it to be effective (usually overnight), and then you can use the cider vinegar in the morning and then use the remedy again. You may want to keep using the cider vinegar on a regular basis to help keep your normal pH and help to keep yeast from accumulating there. You want to use 1 tbsp vinegar to 1/2 cup of cold water. If you do have recurring yeast infections, you will want to check out my next blog to see what you can do to really stop them from coming back and increase your intestinal health (believe it or not, that is where your yeast infection started).
I will try to review my post every few days to see if anyone has comments or questions. I hope this helped, and if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to post!!! :) God Bless You!
